Mel Futrell

Co-Founder

A seasoned investor with a number of graduate degrees and certifications including pre-law under her belt, Mel Futrell handles our contract negotiations, permitting, and budgeting. Her keen eye for design coupled with experience in woodworking and welding allows her to boast a number of creative and outdoor builder projects as well as functional design work. As a complex sociotechnical systems engineer and human factors psychologist, Mel is well-suited to incorporate the principles of user centered design, combining digital and analog methods, the psychology and flow of color choices, positioning, geometric arrangements, human and animal usability functionality, and even feng shui. Mel has a rare talent for upcycling, making things look like other things, and giving them a brand-new life.

George Kounis

Co-Founder

When he was just a teenager, George Kounis started helping in the family business of renting and managing multiple properties. Over the years his responsibilities grew, gaining deep hands-on knowledge and construction skills through the many substantial renovations performed. These aid his current role as our primary general contractor. Having graduated from UCLA with a Computer Science degree, he worked as a software engineer before co-founding the popular aviation travel magazine, Pilot Getaways, which he published for 20 years. He is well-known as a top-notch air-to-air aviation photographer, and his responsibilities for the artistic imagery and layout of the magazine have influenced his attention to the aesthetics as well as function of renovation projects. Influenced by his fine woodworking skills, he prides himself on paying attention to the details and fit & finish required for top-notch, eye-catching results.
